The Technology Workforce Development Program aims to assist the community with the education and enrichment of digital literacy education. Through various programs, job positions, and job opportunities, we look to provide the necessary technology needs to gain entry or advancement within the technology industry.
Started in 2018, the Amped Technology Workforce Development program provides advanced technology training and employment opportunities with Louisville-based companies that were previously unavailable to those without a college education. The program also offers mentorship while the students are going through cohorts to ensure students successfully complete the program while learning various technical skills. Skills learned in our program include but not limited to IT Support, software management, hardware repair, SQL, Python, and Power BI. We have various course formats including immersive hands-on training, instructor led courses, and self-pace courses. Through this programming, Amped is removing disparities in Information Technology including in the fields of data analytics, cybersecurity, and data science. Graduates have the opportunity to receive a living wage job that starts at $40,000 to $65,000 annually plus benefits.

Our program is for Louisville residents age 18 or older who want to start a career in IT Support regardless of previous tech experience. Priority admission will be extended to residents that meet specified income levels and live in specified areas (Qualified Census Tract) within the following zip codes: 40202, 40203, 40208, 40209, 40210, 40211, 40212, 40215, 40216.
A Qualified Census Tract (QCT) is a designation in the United States for specific census tracts meeting criteria related to poverty rates and/or income levels, determined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). As part of this program is using grant funding, we use this indicator to make sure we’re offering our opportunities to those who need them the most. We have various courses running throughout the year. Our training classes include A+ Training, Network+ Training, Data Analytics, PowerBI, Cybersecurity, and more. As more classes become available, we will post them on our site. Be sure to sign up below for information about current and future courses and when registration is available.
Any trainings that has paid opportunities, such as stipends or bonuses, are identified on the course details on this site. There are also household income limits for any participants that receive payment compensation from the program during the course.
All of our trainings are at no cost to the participant
Assessments are conducted before offering challenging courses to ensure that participants are adequately prepared to benefit from the content. If necessary, we will also offer introductory courses to better prepare participants for any upcoming advanced courses. This approach ensures that all participants have the foundational knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the program.

We have several self-pace option courses using our online course curriculum. We have a full library of technical courses individuals can choose to take. Participants must still go through the online sign-up application in order to take these options.

As of now, the only classes we have available are on hybrid format (Online and In-person). We may have virtual classes in the future and we will post them here on our site.
Each class varies but can accommodate anywhere from 20 to 30 students.
The only items needed to take the course are a laptop/portable computer (cellphones do not count) and internet access. We will work with any participant that needs assistance getting either of these items.

With the completion of this program (including passing the certification exam), we will work with our participant to receive an interview at one of our partner organizations
Yes! Amped is working with partners at the Louisville Urban League, Metro United Way, and other organizations to support students during their training. They can help resolve many barriers students may face during their training like transportation, childcare, and more.
